  A: If your struts or coil springs show wear, consider all options before starting work. Strut/shock assemblies must be replaced if faulty. Check cost and availability of parts before disassembly. Remove the strut and spring assembly and mount it in a vise. Use a spring compressor to relieve pressure from the upper spring seat. Loosen the damper shaft nut and remove the nut and suspension support. Inspect the bearing and rubber portion of the suspension support, replacing if needed. Remove the upper spring seat and insulator. Lift the compressed spring from the assembly and remove the rubber bumper. Inspect the lower insulator for wear and replace if necessary. To reassemble, position the lower insulator, extend the damper rod and install the rubber bumper. Place the coil spring onto the lower insulator. Install the upper insulator and spring seat. Align the "OUT" mark of the spring upper seat with the mark of the upper insulator. Install the dust seal and suspension support onto the damper shaft. Install the nut and tighten it. Remove the spring compressor tool. Install the strut/spring assembly onto the vehicle.

  A: When removing or replacing rear suspension arms, loosely tighten all bolts. Move the suspension to its normal ride-height angle and position, then fully tighten the bolts. Remove the rear seat and package tray trim panel. Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. Remove the flexible hose and ABS speed sensor from the shock absorber. Detach the brake hose from the strut. Detach the ABS sensor wire from the strut. On models equipped with electronic modulated suspension, remove the clip and clamp and disconnect the shock absorber wiring harness. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the strut. Support the axle carrier with a floor jack. Loosen the strut-to-axle carrier bolt nuts. Remove the three upper strut-to-body mounting nuts. On models equipped with electronic modulated suspension, loosen but do not remove the damper shaft nut. Remove the assembly from the fender well. Lower the axle carrier with the jack and remove the two strut-to-axle carrier bolts. Remove the strut assembly. Maneuver the assembly up into the fender well and insert the mounting studs through the holes in the body. Install the nuts, but don't tighten them yet. Push the axle carrier into the strut lower bracket and install the bolts and nuts, tightening them to the torque. Connect the stabilizer bar link to the strut bracket. Attach the brake hose bracket to the strut. Attach the ABS wire to the strut. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the torque. Tighten the three strut upper mounting nuts to the torque. If working on a model equipped with electronic modulated suspension and the strut has been disassembled, tighten the strut center nut to the torque. Connect the electrical connector. Install the package tray trim and seat.

  A: Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. Support the Control Arm with a floor jack. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link end from the strut. Remove the brake hose bracket and the speed sensor wiring harness from the strut. On models equipped with electronic modulated suspension, remove the shock absorber cap and disconnect the shock absorber wiring harness. Remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts and knock the bolts out with a hammer and punch. Separate the strut from the Steering Knuckle. Support the strut and spring assembly with one hand and remove the three strut-to-shock tower nuts. Check the strut body for leaking fluid, dents, cracks, and other obvious damage. Check the coil spring for chips or cracks in the spring coating. Inspect the spring seat for cuts, hardness, and general deterioration. Guide the strut assembly up into the fender well and insert the three upper mounting studs through the holes in the shock tower. Slide the steering knuckle into the strut flange and insert the two bolts. Reattach the brake hose bracket to the strut. Install the wheel and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts. Tighten the three upper mounting nuts. If you're working on a model equipped with electronic modulated suspension and the strut had been disassembled, tighten the nut in the center of the strut. Connect the electrical connector and install the cap.
