  Q: How do you remove and install a tie-rod end on a Toyota Sienna?

  A: To remove the Tie Rod End, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts. Next, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Make sure that the rear wheels are blocked and the parking brake is set. Take off the front wheel and hold the tie-rod end with locking pliers or a wrench and loosen the jam nut enough to mark the position of the tie-rod end about the threads. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut on the tie-rod end stud, using a puller to disconnect the tie-rod from the steering knuckle arm and separate the tie-rod by removing the nut. Unscrew the tie-rod end. For installation, thread the tie-rod end onto the marked position and insert the tie-rod end stud into the steering knuckle arm and tighten the jam nut securely. Install the castle nut on the stud and tighten it to the specified torque and install a new cotter pin. Tighten the nut more to align it if you find it necessary. However, do not loosen a nut to align it. Install the wheel and lug nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Finally, get the front wheel alignment checked.
