How to overhaul the master cylinder?

Before deciding to overhaul the Brake Brake Master Cylinder, check availability and cost of a new or rebuilt unit, as well as rebuild kit availability. When removing the Brake Master Cylinder, place rags under brake line fittings and cover line ends to prevent fluid spillage. Unplug the brake fluid level warning switch connector and loosen tube nuts with a flare-nut wrench. Pull brake lines slightly away from the Brake Master Cylinder and plug them to prevent contamination. Remove the Brake Master Cylinder by loosening mounting nuts, being careful not to kink hydraulic lines. Remove reservoir cap and discard remaining fluid. When the Brake Master Cylinder is removed, bleed the entire hydraulic system, which is more efficient if the Brake Master Cylinder is bench bled before installation. Mount the Brake Master Cylinder in a vise with soft jaws and fill reservoirs with brake fluid. Depress the piston multiple times to expel air, and temporarily install plugs when bleeding is complete. Carefully install the Brake Master Cylinder by reversing removal steps and bleed the brake system.
