Q:
How to remove and install fuel injectors and Fuel Rail? Posted by Customer
A:
Removal begins with relieving the fuel pressure, followed by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. The engine cover is then removed, as well as the air filter housing. The fuel hose bracket near the throttle body is detached, and the wiring harness is freed from its clamps. The electrical connectors from the fuel rail and injectors are disconnected, and the fuel line is disconnected from the fuel rail. The fuel rail mounting bolts are removed, and the fuel rail with the fuel injectors attached is removed. Note that there are two spacers that mount between the fuel rail and the cylinder head. The fuel injector(s) are removed from the fuel rail by firmly pulling out of the fuel rail. If the same injectors are to be re-used, the grommets and 0-rings are replaced. Installation of the fuel injectors is the reverse of removal. A light coating of fuel is applied to the injector 0-rings before installation into the fuel rail AND into the cylinder head. It is ensured that the fuel injectors rotate freely once installed into the cylinder head with the fuel rail. The fuel rail mounting bolts are tightened. A scan tool is used to activate the fuel pump and check for leaks. If a scan tool is not available, the ignition is turned to On and it is verified there are no fuel leaks. If no leaks are present, the engine is started and run, and leaks are checked for again.
