CMP sensors are only used on four-cylinder models, while four VVT sensors are used on all V6 engine models. For 2009 and earlier models, the sensor is located on the side of the cylinder head, just below the valve cover, near the left end of the cylinder head. To remove it, the air filter housing needs to be removed first, followed by disconnecting the electrical connector, removing the mounting bolt, and taking out the camshaft sensor from the cylinder head. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2010 and later models, the sensor(s) are mounted on the top of the valve cover. To remove them, the harness electrical connector needs to be disconnected, followed by removing the mounting screws and taking out the camshaft sensor(s) from the valve cover. Installation is the reverse of removal.
