If damage or defects are found, replace the cap and rotor. It's also recommended to measure the resistance between the spark plug wires and the cap; if it exceeds the specified maximum value, replace either the cap, wires, or both. When installing a new cap, transfer the wires one at a time to the new cap in the exact same location to avoid firing order confusion.
