To begin the air conditioning system repair, take the vehicle to a shop to have the system discharged and the refrigerant properly recovered. Proceed by removing the drive belt and the engine cooling fan. Loosen the left front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and securely support it on jack stands. Remove the engine splash shield, as well as the left front wheel and the inner fender splash shield. For Four-Cylinder models, detach the electrical connector and disconnect the refrigerant lines. Unbolt the compressor and guide it out from under the vehicle. If a new or rebuilt compressor is being installed, refer to the supplied directions to adjust the oil level appropriately. For V6 models, remove the engine cover and the alternator. Detach the electrical connector and disconnect the refrigerant lines. Unbolt the compressor and guide it out from under the vehicle. Again, if a new or rebuilt compressor is being installed, follow the provided instructions to adjust the oil level correctly. For all models, during installation, follow the reverse order of removal steps. Replace any 0-rings with new ones suitable for the refrigerant type in your system and lubricate them with refrigerant oil specific to your system. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
