- A:Before beginning electrical diagnosis, it is important to check the fuses. To test the horn, start by disconnecting the electrical connector from the horn. Then, connect battery voltage to the horn terminal using a jumper wire. If the horn does not sound, it needs to be replaced. However, if the horn does sound, check for voltage at the terminal when the horn button is depressed. If there is voltage, check for a bad ground at the horn. If there is no voltage, proceed to check the relay. If the relay is okay, check for voltage in the relay power and control circuits. If either circuit is not receiving voltage, inspect the wiring between the relay and the fuse panel.
