- A:To remove the hub/bearing assembly, start by removing the dust cover or grease cap and loosening the driveaxle/hub nut on 4WD models. Then, loosen the wheel bolts, raise the vehicle, and remove the wheel. Next, remove the brake caliper, caliper mounting bracket, and brake disc from the knuckle. Make sure to support the brake caliper with a length of wire or rope. If the brake disc is stuck, use two bolts to press it off the hub assembly. After that, remove the hub/bearing assembly mounting bolts from the front of the steering knuckle and take out the assembly. Replace the O-ring on the hub. For bearing replacement, it is recommended to take the hub and bearing assembly to a professional mechanic or automotive machine shop. To install the hub/bearing assembly, ensure that the mounting surfaces inside the steering knuckle and on the drive-axle splines (4WD models) are smooth and free of burrs and nicks. For 2WD models, install the assembly to the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts. For 4WD models, lubricate the driveaxle splines with multi-purpose grease and place the assembly onto the steering knuckle, tightening the bolts. Install a new driveaxle/hub nut but do not tighten it yet. Then, install the brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, and caliper, and tighten the fasteners. Install the wheel, remove the jackstands, and lower the vehicle.
