Q:
How do you remove the blower unit on Toyota Avalon and 1997 through 2001 Toyota Solara? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the blower unit, begin by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. The blower unit is situated in the passenger compartment above the right front footwell. Remove the glove compartment liner, the glove compartment door, and the right lower dash panel to access the blower unit. When removing the blower, take out the blower unit retaining screws and lower the unit from the housing. If you are replacing the motor, transfer the fan to the new motor before proceeding with the installation. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps and ensure proper operation of the blower unit.

Q:
How to troubleshoot a non-operating blower motor? Posted by Customer
A:
To troubleshoot the blower motor, start by checking all connections in the circuit for looseness and corrosion. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and inspect fuse 2 in the fuse panel below the driver's side of the dashboard. Additionally, examine the blower relay in the underhood fuse/relay box by removing and testing it. If the relay fails the tests, replace it. With the transmission in Park and the parking brake set, turn the ignition switch to the ON position without starting the vehicle. Locate the blower motor under the glove compartment area near the firewall. Set the heater controls to FLOOR and the blower speed to 4, then listen to the ducts for blower operation. Switch the blower speed to 1 and test all speeds. If the blower did not operate and you have checked the fuses and relay, proceed to test the blower. Locate the electrical connector at the blower motor and back probe the Blue/red wire terminal. There should be at least 10 volts with the mode switch in any position other than Off and the ignition switch On. If not, there may be a problem in the circuit from the fuse panel to the heater/air conditioning control panel or from the control panel to the blower. If there is a voltage at the feed wire but the blower still does not operate, back probe the Black/white wire and connect it to a known good chassis ground using a jumper wire. If the blower now operates, there may be a problem in the circuit from the blower to the blower speed switch to the resistor to the ground, most likely due to a bad ground connection. Check the connection between the blower resistor and ground, as well as the blower switch and ground (White/Black wires). If the blower operates but not at all speeds, inspect the blower resistor located on the blower housing under the right side of the dash. Visually check the resistor for damage and use an ohmmeter to test the resistance values between the terminals. If the resistance values are not as specified, replace the resistor. If the blower operates but not at all speeds and you have already checked the blower resistor, remove the heater/air conditioning control panel. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the blower speed switch and test the terminals for continuity. If the continuity is not as described, replace the blower speed switch.
