Before disconnecting the battery, ensure you have the correct activation code for the anti-theft system in your vehicle's stereo. To troubleshoot a non-working blower unit, check the fuse and connections for looseness and corrosion. The blower unit is located under the dash or under the passenger seat in models with rear heater units. If the blower motor does not operate, disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor and check for battery voltage with the blower speed switch on. If there is no voltage, there may be an issue with the ignition feed circuit, blower switch, heater main relay, or circuit to the motor. If voltage is present, reconnect the terminal to the blower motor and back-probe the correct terminal with a jumper wire connected to ground. If the motor still does not operate, it is likely faulty and should be replaced. If the motor is good but does not operate, the blower resistor or the heater/air conditioning control switch may be faulty. Check for continuity through the switch in each position and across each terminal of the resistor. To replace the blower motor, remove the bracket retaining the wiring connector, then remove the mounting screws and lower the blower assembly from the housing. The fan can be reused on the new blower motor. For access to the rear blower motor on 4Runner models, the passenger seat will need to be removed. Installation is the reverse of removal. Verify proper operation after installation.
