Q:
How do you remove the radiator and coolant reservoir in Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the radiator in 2003 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the coolant into a container. Remove both the upper and lower radiator hoses, disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator filler neck, and disconnect the transaxle cooler lines from the radiator, making sure to place a drip pan beneath to catch any fluid. Remove the bolts attaching the radiator to its support and lift out the radiator while being cautious of dripping fluids and sharp fins. Inspect the radiator for leaks, damage, and blockage and have any necessary repairs performed by professionals with specialized techniques. Clean any bugs and dirt from the radiator using compressed air and a soft brush, being careful not to bend the cooling fins. For 2004 and later models, pull up the front of the engine cover, loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel, raise the vehicle with jackstands, and remove the plastic lower engine splash shield. Drain the coolant, remove both air inlets, and take out the battery and front bumper assembly. Disconnect hoses from the radiator, remove the cover from the front of the hood latch, disconnect wiring, and remove the vertical hood latch support bar. Disconnect fan wiring, remove the horizontal upper radiator support bar, and disconnect transmission fluid and oil hoses from the radiator. Remove the right headlight assembly, side air deflector, and right headlight support bracket. Remove the pressure tube assembly, radiator support cushions, upper radiator support, and the bolts at the bottom of the radiator to separate it from the condenser. Carefully lift out the radiator and fan assembly, and if needed, separate the fan assembly and remove the lower radiator support and inlet assembly. To reinstall, follow the reverse procedure, ensuring the rubber mounts are correctly in place, then fill the cooling system with the appropriate antifreeze and water mixture, check for leaks, and add more coolant if necessary. Finally, check and add transaxle fluid as needed. For coolant reservoir removal and installation, remove the reservoir by taking out two bolts, pouring the coolant into a container, and inspecting the reservoir for damage. Replace it if necessary, and then reinstall it by reversing the removal procedure.
