Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the coolant into a container. Remove the radiator support shield and the fasteners securing it. Detach the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator. If the hoses stick, twist them with a pair of large pliers to break the bond, but be careful not to damage the fittings on the radiator. Remove the coolant reservoir. Remove the cooling fan and fan shroud. If equipped, disconnect the transmission cooler hoses. Place a drip pan to catch the fluid and cap the ends. Remove the radiator mounting bolts. The lower radiator mounting bolts are accessed through openings in the frame structure at the front of the vehicle right side. It may be necessary to use a back-up wrench on the nut inside the engine compartment. Lift out the radiator carefully to avoid damaging the aluminum cooling fins. Beware of dripping fluids and the sharp fins. With the radiator removed, it can be inspected for leaks, damage and internal blockage. If in need of repairs, have a radiator shop or dealer service department perform the work as special techniques are required. Bugs and dirt can be cleaned from the radiator with compressed air and a soft brush. Don't bend the cooling fins as this is done. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the radiator mounting bolts to the torque. After installation, fill the cooling system. Start the engine and check for leaks. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature, indicated by both radiator hoses becoming hot. Recheck the coolant level and add more if required. Check and add transmission fluid as needed.
