Next, remove the oil pump cover bolts and the oil pump cover itself. Take out the oil pump drive rotor and driven rotor. Inspect all the components for wear and damage, ensuring that the relief valve moves freely. Check the oil pressure relief valve sliding surface and valve spring, replacing them if necessary. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance of the driven rotor-to-oil pump body, rotor side clearance, and rotor tip clearance. Replace any worn parts or the entire oil pump assembly. To install the new oil pump, remove the old crankshaft seal from the timing chain cover and replace it with a new one, applying grease or oil to the outer edge and seal lip. Apply petroleum jelly to the pump drive and driven rotors and place them into position in the timing chain cover, ensuring the pump marks face outwards. Pack the pump cavity with petroleum jelly and install the cover, tightening the bolts to the specified torque. Lubricate the oil pressure relief valve and insert it, followed by the spring, into the pump cover. Screw in the plug and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, reinstall the timing chain cover, add oil, install a new filter, and check for leaks while running the engine.

To remove the oil pump, begin by detaching the timing chain and crankshaft sprocket, then proceed to remove the oil pump drive chain and sprockets after adjusting the crankshaft's position. Remove the oil pump body by unfastening the three bolts and, if necessary, carefully using a screwdriver to pry it away from the engine block. Additionally, check the oil pump chain guide for signs of wear and ensure the oil jet is clear of obstructions. For installation, lubricate the pump cavity with engine oil, place the oil pump with a new gasket against the block, and secure it with the mounting bolts, tightening them in a criss-cross pattern. Install the drive chain and sprockets, aligning colored links on the chain with alignment marks on the drive gears, and tighten the lower drive sprocket retention bolt to the specified torque. Finally, reassemble all remaining components in reverse order, add oil to the correct level, start the engine, and verify oil pressure and check for any leaks.

Finally, reassemble the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, add oil to the proper level, start the engine, and check for oil pressure and leaks.

During the inspection, you should clean all components with solvent and inspect for wear and damage, especially focusing on the oil pressure relief valve and its spring. Check clearances of various components using a feeler gauge as specified.

Take out the oil pump drive rotor and driven rotor.
