Cut away the seal lip with a razor knife and carefully pry the seal out of the engine using a screwdriver or seal removal tool. Clean the bore and coat the outer edge of the new seal with engine oil or multi-purpose grease, then drive the new seal into place using a seal driver or a socket with a slightly smaller outside diameter. Make sure it's installed squarely and to the same depth as the original. Reinstall the crankshaft timing sprocket and timing belt, being careful not to scratch the crankshaft sensor portion. Make sure it's installed squarely and to the same depth as the original. Reinstall the rear timing belt cover and tighten the bolts. Reinstall the camshaft sprocket(s) and timing belt. Run the engine and check for oil leaks at the camshaft seal.

The outer edge of the new seal should be coated with engine oil or multi-purpose grease, and the seal lip should be lubricated with multi-purpose grease.

Remove the timing belt and camshaft sprocket(s). Remove the bolts and detach the rear timing belt cover.

Remove the timing belt, upper idler pulley, and camshaft sprocket. Next, remove the upper timing belt rear cover. Note how far the seal is seated in the bore, then carefully pry it out with a small screwdriver. Be careful not to nick or scratch the camshaft journal. Avoid scratching the bore or damaging the camshaft during the process, as the new seal may end up leaking if the camshaft is damaged. Clean the bore and coat the outer edge of the new seal with engine oil or multi-purpose grease. Apply multi-purpose grease to the seal lip. Using a socket with an outside diameter slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the seal, carefully drive the new seal into place with a hammer. Ensure it is installed squarely and driven to the same depth as the original. If a socket is not available, a short section of pipe will also work. Reinstall the timing belt rear cover, camshaft sprocket, and timing belt. Run the engine and check for oil leaks at the camshaft seal.
