How to replace the CKP sensor on Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Tundra? Posted by Customer
A:
The CKP sensor is located at the front lower left corner of the engine. To replace it, first disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the engine under-cover. On V6 models, remove the alternator and the bolt that secures the air conditioning suction line, disconnect the electrical connector from the air conditioning compressor, and unbolt the compressor. On V6 and 2UZ-FE V8 engines, disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector. On 1UR-FE, 3UR-FE, and 3UR-FBE V8 engines, remove the sensor protector mounting bolts and protector from the driver's side lower rear corner of the engine, then disconnect the sensor electrical connector. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal, making sure to tighten the CKP sensor retaining bolt securely.

For four-cylinder models 2009 and earlier, remove the drive belt and alternator, disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector, remove the harness clamps and bracket, and then detach the sensor and harness. For 2010 and later models, disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector, remove the bolt and sensor. For V6 models, remove the drive belt, alternator, air conditioning compressor, and then disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector. Remove the crankshaft position sensor retaining bolt and sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the CKP sensor retaining bolt is tightened securely.
