Remove the filter retaining screws and the filter. Inspect the pan, filter, and fluid for any issues. Clean the pan and remove any old gasket material. Install a new filter and gasket.

At specified intervals, drain and replace the transmission fluid. Only perform this procedure after the engine has completely cooled down. Before starting, purchase the recommended transmission fluid and a new filter. You will also need a floor jack, jackstands, a drain pan, newspapers, and clean rags. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Place the drain pan under the transmission pan and remove the drain plug to let the fluid drain completely. Reinstall the drain plug. Remove the transmission pan rock shield (if equipped) and the pan mounting bolts. Use a rubber mallet to tap on the pan and break the gasket seal between the pan and the transmission case. Lower the pan and separate the lower part of the dipstick tube from the upper part. If they are stuck together, unbolt the bracket at the upper end of the tube. Drain any remaining fluid from the pan. Remove the filter retaining bolts and the filter. Inspect the pan, filter, and fluid for any signs of damage or wear. Clean the pan and remove any old gasket material from the transmission case. Install new gaskets on the filter and reinstall the filter. Apply RTV sealant to the pan and reinsert the filler tube onto the dipstick tube. Place the pan against the transmission case and tighten the bolts. Lower the vehicle and add approximately 1-1/2 quarts of transmission fluid through the filler tube. Start the engine and move the gear selector through each range. Check the fluid level and add more fluid as needed. For V6 models, check for leaks and recheck the fluid level when the transmission is hot.

After securely raising the vehicle on jackstands, place the drain pan under the transmission pan and remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to drain completely and then reinstall the drain plug.

Install new gaskets on the filter and tighten the bolts.Apply a bead of RTV sealant to the pan mating surface.Reinsert the filler tube onto the dipstick tube.Place the pan against the transmission case and tighten each bolt to the specified torque.

The strainer does not come with any gaskets.
