The power window system operates electric motors in the doors to lower and raise the windows. It includes control switches, relays, motors, regulators, glass mechanisms, and wiring. The windows can be controlled from the master switch by the driver or from remote switches at each window. Each window has a separate reversible motor controlled by the position of the switch. The system is protected by a fuse and circuit breaker, with each motor also having an internal circuit breaker. The system only operates when the ignition switch is ON, and there may be a window lock-out switch at the master control switch. If the power windows won't operate, check the fuse and circuit breaker first. If only the rear windows are inoperative or only operate from the master switch, check the rear window lock-out switch. Check the wiring between the switches and fuse panel for continuity and repair if necessary. If only one window is inoperative from the master switch, try the other control switch at the window. If the same window works from one switch but not the other, have the switch checked. If the switch tests OK, check for a short or open in the circuit between the switch and the window motor. If one window is inoperative from both switches, check for voltage at the switch and motor while the switch is operated. If voltage is reaching the motor, check for binding or damage to the glass and regulator. If voltage isn't reaching the motor, check the wiring in the circuit for continuity and the grounding and voltage of any relays. Test the windows after repairs are done to confirm proper operation.
