After draining the coolant, the next steps are to remove both the upper and lower radiator hoses, disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator filler neck, and remove the cooling fan.

Non-toxic coolant can be purchased at local auto parts stores. However, it is important to properly dispose of used coolant. To remove the radiator, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the coolant into a container. Then, detach the upper and lower radiator hoses, as well as the reservoir hose from the radiator filler neck. Remove the cooling fans, horns, and hood latch, and then remove the bolts securing the radiator support to the body. If there is an automatic transaxle, disconnect the cooler lines from the radiator and place a drip pan to catch the fluid. Lift out the radiator, being cautious of dripping fluids and sharp fins. Inspect the radiator for leaks, damage, and blockage, and have a professional radiator shop perform any necessary repairs. Clean bugs and dirt from the radiator using compressed air and a soft brush, being careful not to bend the cooling fins. To install the radiator, ensure that the rubber mounts are in place. After installation, fill the cooling system with the proper mixture of antifreeze and water. Start the engine and check for leaks, allowing the engine to reach normal operating temperature. Recheck the coolant level and add more if needed. For models with an automatic transmission, check and add fluid as necessary. To remove the coolant reservoir, simply pull it up and out of the bracket on the fenderwell. Pour the coolant into a container and inspect the reservoir for cracks or damage. Replace it if necessary. The installation process is the reverse of the removal.
