Q:
How to check the PCV valve and hose on Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
A:
The PCV valve and hose are located in the valve cover for the rear cylinder bank, on the right (passenger's) side. To check it, disconnect the hose, remove the PCV valve from the cover, then reconnect the hose. With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, place your finger over the valve opening. If there's no vacuum at the valve, check for a plugged hose or valve and replace any plugged or deteriorated hoses. Turn off the engine and remove the PCV valve from the hose. Blow through the valve from the valve cover (cylinder head) end. If air will not pass through the valve in this direction, replace it with a new one. To check the PCV valve, first attach a clean section of hose to the cylinder head side of the valve and blow through it - air should pass through easily. Then blow through the opposite side of the valve and verify that air doesn't pass through it. When purchasing a replacement PCV valve, make sure it's for your particular vehicle and engine size. Compare the old valve with the new one to make sure they're the same.

Q:
I have an '01 Highlander 3.0L v6 1MZ-FE. I understand the rear(or RH) valve cover has been updated to a newer version that also entails a different PCV valve( part # 12204-20040 I believe). I will be replacing the rear cover and apparently the newer PCV valve. My question is about the PCV valve to intake manifold hose. Is there a different hose that is needed also? The original black plastic valve has a 90 degree elbow on it, and it looks like the newer replacement has no elbow on it. I will more than likely be getting the parts from you since you definitely have the lowest prices of anyone I see, along with a valve cover gasket and whatever else I may need.
