Q: How to check and replace a coil in a Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Disconnect the Car Batteries's negative terminal, noting any stereo anti-theft codes. Remove the coil's plastic shield, if present. Take off coil mounting bolts and connect ohmmeter probes. Measure resistance between coil terminals for primary resistance, and between positive and high tension terminals for secondary resistance, comparing each to specified values. If values are outside the specified range, replace the Ignition Coil. For replacement, remove the heat shield, disconnect and label wires from the coil, remove mounting screws and lift coil out. Reverse these steps for installation.
