- A:To reassemble the driveaxle, the splines on the inner end of the axleshaft should be wrapped with tape, the clamps and boots should be slid onto the axleshaft, and the tripod should be placed on the shaft. Grease should be applied to the tripod assembly and inside the housing, the tripod should be inserted into the housing, and the remainder of the grease should be packed around the tripod.
