To remove the oil pan, timing belt, lower timing belt idler pulley, crankshaft sprocket, oil pick-up tube, alternator, air conditioning compressor, compressor bracket, power steering pump adjusting bar, and lower timing belt idler pulley, unbolt and detach the oil pump from the engine, remove the O-ring, oil pressure relief valve snap ring, retainer, spring, and valve, use a large Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws retaining the body cover to the rear of the oil pump, lift the cover off and remove the pump rotors, and use a scraper to remove all traces of sealant and old gasket material from the pump body and engine block, then clean the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. For inspection, clean all components with solvent and inspect them for wear and damage. Check the oil pressure relief valve sliding surface and valve spring, as well as the clearance of the driven rotor-to-oil pump body, rotor side, and rotor tip. To install, pry the old crankshaft seal out, apply multi-purpose grease or engine oil to the outer edge of the new seal and carefully drive it into place, place the drive and driven rotors into the pump body with the marks facing out, pack the pump cavity with petroleum jelly and install the cover, lubricate the oil pressure relief valve with engine oil and install the valve components in the pump body, use acetone or lacquer thinner and a clean rag to remove all traces of oil from the gasket surfaces, apply a 2 to 3 mm wide bead of anaerobic sealant to the oil pump, position a new O-ring on the block, engage the spline teeth on the oil pump drive rotor with the large teeth on the crankshaft and slide the pump into place, install the oil pump mounting bolts in their original locations and tighten them, using a new gasket, install the oil pick-up tube and tighten the fasteners, reinstall the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, add oil, start the engine, and check for oil leaks, and recheck the engine oil level.
