To begin, disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for the engine to cool. Drain the cooling system. In the engine compartment, disconnect the heater hoses at the firewall and plug the heater core tubes. Remove the center console, glove compartment, glove compartment liner, ashtray, radio, center dash bezels, and instrument panel. Remove the heater/air conditioning controls. Remove the ECM without disconnecting the connectors. Remove the heater unit braces. Unbolt and remove the center ventilation duct. Remove the heater duct/control door. Loosen the nuts on the studs retaining the heater tubes. Pull the heater unit out from behind the dash, being careful not to break any plastic components. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system, reconnect the battery, and check for leaks and proper system operation.
