How to replace the front crankshaft seal in V6 engine for the 2001 Toyota Tacoma?

Take off the timing belt and crankshaft timing belt sprocket. Place an open-end micrometer across the face of the seal and take note of how far the seal is recessed in the bore, and then you remove the seal lip with a razor knife. Slowly lift the seal out of the engine with assistance of a screwdriver or removal tool, be very careful not to mar the housing bore or remove any material from the crankshaft because the new seal will never seal well if this is the case. Open the engine and clean the bore wherein the new seal is to be fitted, Copious amounts of engine oil or multi-purpose grease should be applied on the outer circumference of the seal as well as the inside of the seal lip. Inserting a new seal with a socket slightly less in outside diameter than the seal, carefully hammer the new seal into the sockets and make sure it is placed upright and down to the depth of the new seal. A good substitute can be utilized in the form of a short pipe of large diameter can also be used if a socket can't be found. If installed, the outlook can be checked to verify whether the seal is proper, and whether the spring is not at a loose position. Reinstallations of the crankshaft timing sprocket and timing belt should be done carefully to avoid scratching the crankshaft sensor portion on the sprocket if the car is fitted with 1MZ-FE engines.
