Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels. Raise the rear of the vehicle and securely place it on jackstands. Remove the rear wheels. Remove the heat insulator from the exhaust system. Disconnect the sway bar kit links from the bar. To detach the sway bar kit link from the bar, remove the lower nut; if you're removing the strut, remove the upper nut. If the ball stud turns with the nut, use an Allen wrench to hold the stud. Unbolt the sway bar bushing retainers and the two brackets from the body. Remove the bushing retainer bolts and brackets from both the left and right retainers. On Camry Solar a convertible models, there is a floor reinforcement sub assembly of braces that must be removed to allow sway bar kit removal. The sway bar kit can now be removed from the vehicle. Pull the retainers off the sway bar kit using a rocking motion. Check the bushings for wear, hardness, distortion, cracking, and other signs of deterioration. Replace them if necessary. Check the sway bar kit links. Using a wire brush, clean the areas of the bar where the bushings ride. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. If necessary, use a light coat of vegetable oil to ease bushing and U-bracket installation. Do not use petroleum-based products or brake fluid, as these will damage the rubber. Installation is the reverse of removal. On Solar a convertible models, tighten the floor reinforcement brace bolts to 38 ft-lbs.
