Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Detach the instrument cluster by removing the mounting screws and pulling it towards the steering wheel. For 2014 and later Highlander models, note that the cluster is secured by two screws at the top and two clips at the bottom; the bottom must be pulled out first to disengage the clips. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the backside of the cluster. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2015 Lexus models, the head's-up display is located directly behind the instrument cluster, while for 2016 and later models, it is found in the center of the instrument panel. For 2015 models, remove the instrument cluster and then the air duct in the cluster opening. For 2016 and later models, remove the instrument panel. Disconnect the electrical connector to the head's-up display unit, remove the fasteners, and separate the display unit from the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal, and calibration of the display unit may be necessary using a factory type scan tool after installation.
