  Q: How to replace the automatic transaxle fluid and Filter?

  A: To replace automatic transaxle fluid, gather the recommended fluid, jack stands, wrenches, a four-quart drain pan, newspapers, and rags. Warm up the fluid by driving, then raise the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the lower engine splash shield if necessary. Position the drain pan under the transaxle pan's drain plug, remove the plug, and let the fluid drain. Reinstall the plug securely. Remove the transaxle pan bolts and pry the pan loose for further drainage. Remove the filter retaining bolts, disconnect the clip if present, and replace the filter. Clean the gasket surfaces of the fluid pan and reinstall any magnets. Install a new gasket, reposition the fluid pan, and secure the bolts. Lower the vehicle, add new fluid through the dipstick tube, and let it drain into the pan. Start the engine, shift through all positions, return to Park, and apply the brake. Check and add fluid up to the Cool level on the dipstick with the engine idling.
