This information is relevant only on the models up to year 2006, as from year 2007 the mechanism is an electrically operated throttle without the cable. To disconnect the accelerator cable first, pull it out from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, unscrew the locknut utilizing two wrenches on the threaded part of the accelerator cable which is located at the
Throttle Body. Turn the throttle lever anticlockwise and push the accelerator cable end off the hole in the lever Next pull the end of the accelerator cable out of the accelerator pedal. Next, remove the cable and the casing out of the firewall to the engine compartment. For installation replace the steps with the following, making sure the grommet fits correctly in to the firewall. To retract the cable, there will always be some slack which need to be lifted and the adjusting screw will have to be turned till it is approximately 1/8 of an inch or 3 millimeters from the cable bracket. Secure the locknut and observe the cable bend on the throttle lever end and the housing casing should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch. If the deflection is not within given specifications, locknut has to be loosened in order to adjust the nut. After adjustment, check to be sure that the throttle valve opens wide when accelerator pedal is pushed to the floor and shuts when it is released, with the cable free of any stiff or rigid movement.
