The described procedure is useful when working on early models equipped with 4-speed transaxles only. Ask an assistant to press the throttle pedal to the floor while checking to make sure that the throttle linkage goes all the way. If this linkage does not open fully, tell your assistant to keep the pedal down when you are loosening the adjusting nuts and then adjust the Throttle Cable until you get to a mark or stopper a specified distance from the boot end. After that, tighten the adjusting nuts firmly, and finally, check and make sure that the distance is precise and should be wide enough to open the linkage when you depress the throttle.
