Toyota Solara Air Filter Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace Air Filter on Toyota Avalon and Toyota Solara every 30,000 miles or 36 months?
A: The air filter is located inside a housing on the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, unscrew the bolts that retain the two halves of the air filter housing. Lift the cover up and remove the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the hinge tabs on the housing cover engage properly with the lower part of the housing.
  • Q: How to remove and replace Air Filter on Toyota Avalon and Toyota Solara every 15,000 miles or 12 months?
A: The air filter is located inside a housing at the left (drivers) side of the engine compartment. To remove the air filter, release the four spring clips retaining the two halves of the air cleaner housing. Detach the air intake hose from the cover, then lift the cover up and remove the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter element. If it is dirty, replace it. If it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front surface with compressed air. Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed. Excessive engine wear could result and backfiring could even cause a fire under the hood. Installation is the reverse of removal.
