Take the electrical cable away from the negative end of the battery. By taping our screwdriver tip to prevent scratching the plastic parts, carefully loosen the console upper trim panel with the screwdriver around where you'd shift gears. To take apart the console on Solara models, unhook six devices and take off the console's upper trim panel, then remove two screws and raise up the trim plate from the top. Pull up the armrest and remove the floor cover to access and remove four screws. Two are underneath the armrest at the rear, and two are on either side at the front. Unscrew the screws in front of the rear console box, then take off that box. Pull out the front console screws and push the console over the shift knob. Disconnect wires when necessary before pulling the entire console out. Installation is the reverse of removal.
