Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, blocking the front wheels to prevent rolling. Use a floor jack to support the axle, lifting it just enough to relieve tension on the leaf springs. Remove the four U-bolt nuts and washers to detach the spring from the axle, followed by the spring seat and U-bolts. Next, detach the front end of the spring from the frame by removing the nut from the hanger pin bolt. For the rear end, remove the shackle pin nuts, washers, and shackle pin, then lower the rear of the spring to the ground. After that, take out the hanger pin bolt and remove the spring assembly from the vehicle. If the bushings at the ends of the spring are worn or deteriorated, an automotive machine shop or dealer service department can press out the old ones and press in new ones. For installation, reverse the removal process, gradually tightening the U-bolt nuts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque, and ensure the hanger pin and shackle pin bolts/nuts are also tightened to the torque with the vehicle at normal ride height.
