To keep the Tacoma's electrical system safe, three types of protection work together: fuses in the left instrument panel, circuit breakers there too, and small wire links installed in the engine space. Each fuse block protects a separate electrical circuit, labeled clearly in its panel. When an electrical component stops working, follow our advice: find out if the issue is with its fuse by taking out the small mini fuse bottles and testing each one. The quickest way to find out if fuses are working is to use a test light to see if power gets to one terminal but not the other; a broken fuse will show this pattern, and you can also spot it by looking. You need to install matching replacements for blown fuses correctly, because different rating options can fit in the same space but won't offer enough protection. Don't replace a new damaged fuse right away. Find and fix what's causing the wire problem before putting in another one.
