How to remove and install the Tailgate Handle on a Toyota Tacoma?

Open the rear door and pry off the protector from inside the rear door and top part of the tailgate, this protector is fixed at the top and can be easily pulled from the bottom as it has plastic clips on the inside. Then, take out the latch mounting fasteners, pull the control rod and unscrew the rod from the latch, after which the latch has to be rotated in order to unlock the rod clip and after that, the rod has to be taken out. In installation, movements should be in the reverse order taken while removing the parts. Concerning the release handle one has to pull the control rods, remove the mounting bolts, and take out the handle assembly, and as for its retaining tabs, they have to be pulled away from the tailgate while during installing the reverse procedure is used.
