How to Inspect and Replace the Drive Belt on a 2005-2009 Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Major H.

First of all, regularly check the drive belt at the front of the engine for any damaged areas, such as a broken core, adhesive rubber separation, or rib cracks. In case of a defect, remove it by turning the auto tensioner clockwise or anti-clockwise. When installing a new one, be sure to center it on all pulleys. Do not forget to lock V6 tensioners when putting in new belts. Remove the drive belt and other parts like an alternator or A/C compressor that may be needed for tensioner replacement. To do this, remove the fasteners fixing tensioner mountings; put another one instead, and then reassemble everything with its torque specification being tightened.
