Toyota 45535-08010 Boot, Steering Rack

To replace the rack and pinion boot, start by loosening the lug nuts. Then, raise the vehicle and securely support it on jack stands before removing the wheel. Proceed to remove the Tie Rod End and jam nut. Next, remove the clamps securing the rack and pinion boot and slide off the boot. Before installing the new boot, protect the threads and serrations on the end of the steering rod by wrapping them with tape. This ensures that the small end of the new boot won't get damaged. Slide the new boot into position on the rack and pinion, making sure it seats in the groove on the steering rod, and then install the new clamps. Remove the tape and proceed to install the tie-rod end. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. It is recommended to have the front wheel alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
