Toyota 41311-14031 Rear Differential Case

Put the car up on jackstands, lift the back end, secure with blocking, then drive the car in Neutral without using the parking brake. Remove the oil from the differential, and take all four drive axles out of it. Note how the driveshaft connects to the pinion flange, detach it from the flange, and hang it up with a thin wire so it doesn't touch the center support bearing. When your model uses an electromagnetic coupling, remove its electrical connector, slide the wiring off the rear differential mounts, and hang up the wire near the differential. When removing the car, take off the exhaust pipe from the rear, then if you drive a Highlander model, take out the subframe and rear differential parts. Lower the vehicle by putting it on a floor jack, take off the side bracket holding the differential in its place, and take out all mounting bolts before carefully lowering the jack to free the differential from under the car. First, you reverse the steps that removed the differential. Afterwards, lock all bolts back at their required tightness levels and put lubricant into the space as needed.
