To remove the oil cooler, start by draining the engine oil and removing the oil filter. Drain the coolant into a container and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the engine splash shield and engine cover. Then, remove the drivebelt, cooling fan and shroud, and the air conditioning compressor. Disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler and remove the tube mounting bracket bolts. Move the tubes to the side and remove the oil filter bracket fasteners. Remove the bracket and discard the O-rings. Remove the oil cooler mounting nuts and remove the cooler from the oil filter bracket. Finally, remove the two oil cooler O-rings, spacer bolt, spacer, and gasket. To install, start by installing a new gasket and O-rings on the oil cooler spacer. Install new O-rings on the oil filter bracket and torque the cooler nuts and bracket fasteners. Install a new oil filter element and refill the engine with oil and the cooling system with the proper type and concentration of antifreeze. Check for coolant leakage and proper gauge function.
