The process of pulling the transmission out with the engine still in the car includes, raising the car on jackstands, unbolting the bellhousing. The clutch release cylinder should be detached, then the transmission next with the engine still on support either by a engine stand, or by placing a jack with a wooden plank on the oil pan. The clutch assembly should also be scrutinized and the flywheel and pressure plate should always be checked for indexing marks which if obliterated must be re-done. The pressure plate to flywheel bolts should be loosened diagonally to a further stage where they are 'free tightening,' then apply the same to the pressure plate and clutch disc. While inspecting, it is recommended to look for signs of oil on any of the clutch components, any form of cracks or any other signs of defect on the flywheel, and depending on the usage make sure that the clutch disc lining is proper. The other component that should also be changed with the clutch disc is the release bearing while the pressure plate should be inspected for signs of wear or damaGE. You need to properly prepare the flywheel and pressure plate to be clean for the clutch disc and pressure plate assembly to be correctly placed and fastened, all the bolts must be tightened evenly to prevent any form of distortion. Once correctly aligned with an alignment tool, apply a light coat of grease on the release bearing and then fix it back with the rest of the transmission and other parts that were taken.
