To remove the wheel cylinder, first, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands, and block the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the Brake Shoe Set and all dirt and foreign material from around the wheel cylinder. Using a flare-nut wrench, disconnect the brake line, being careful not to pull it away from the wheel cylinder. Remove the wheel cylinder mounting bolts and detach the cylinder from the brake backing plate, immediately plugging the brake line to prevent fluid loss and contamination. To install the wheel cylinder, place it in position and install the mounting bolts finger tight, then connect the brake line to the cylinder, being careful not to cross-thread the fitting. Tighten the mounting bolts and brake line fitting securely. Install the brake shoes and bleed the rear brake lines. Finally, check the operation of the brakes carefully before placing the vehicle into normal service.
