These models are equipped with an integration relay that works in conjunction with the ignition switch to activate the key unlock warning system and anti-theft system. To remove the ignition switch, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and place the ignition key in the ACC position. Then, remove the steering wheel and steering column covers. Unplug the ignition switch electrical connectors and remove the switch retaining screws to detach the electrical portion of the ignition switch from the lock cylinder housing. To remove the lock cylinder, disconnect the electrical connector from the key-lock warning switch and, if applicable, gently pry off the plastic shroud around the Ignition Lock Cylinder and disconnect the electrical connector. Depress the lock cylinder retaining pin with a small screwdriver or punch and pull the cylinder straight out. To install the lock cylinder, depress the retaining pin and guide the lock cylinder into the housing until the retaining pin extends itself back into the locating hole. The remaining steps for installation are the reverse of removal.
