How to remove and install a fuel pressure regulator in a V6 or four-cylinder engine? Posted by Customer

Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. V6 MODELS Note: The fuel pressure regulator is located at the rear end of the right fuel rail. Remove the engine cover. Remove the air filter housing. Remove the fuel rail and injectors. Remove the fuel pressure regulator mounting bolts and remove the pressure regulator. Remove and discard the old pressure- regulator 0-ring. Always use a new 0-ring when installing the old fuel pressure regulator or a new unit. Coat the new 0-ring with some clean engine oil and install it on the pressure regulator. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the pressure regulator mounting bolts to the torque. FOUR-CYLINDER MODELS Note: The fuel pressure regulator is located at the front end of the fuel rail. Remove the intake air connector. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel pressure regulator pipe. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the throttle body and from the EGR purge valve, then detach the engine wiring harness clamp, remove the boll that secures the harness clamp bracket and push the harness aside. Remove the two bolts that secure the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail, remove the boll that secures the rear end of the pressure regulator return pipe and remove the regulator. Remove and discard the old fuel pressure regulator O-ring. Always use a new O-ring when installing the old fuel pressure regulator or a new unit. Coat the new O-ring with clean engine oil and install it on the pressure regulator. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the fuel pressure regulator bolts to the torque.

V6 MODELS Note: The fuel pump pulsator is located at the rear end of the left fuel rail.Remove the engine cover.Remove the fuel pump pulsator retaining clip and pull the pulsator out of the fuel rail. To remove the fuel pump pulsator from the fuel rail on a V6 model, remove this retainer clip, then pull the pulsator out of the fuel rail.Remove the old 0-ring from the fuel pump pulsator and replace it with a new one. Coat the new 0-ring with a little clean engine oil before installing it.Installation is the reverse of removal.FOUR-CYLINDER MODELS Note: The fuel pump pulsator is located at the rear end of the fuel rail.Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel rail. Pull up the clamp and disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel pump pulsator.Remove the two fuel pump pulsator mounting bolts. To detach the fuel pump pulsator from the fuel rail, remove these two bolts.Remove and discard the old pulsator 0-ring. Always replace the 0-ring before installing an old or a new fuel pump pulsator. Coat the new 0-ring with a little clean engine oil before installing it.Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the fuel pump pulsator mounting bolts to the torque.
