To begin with, engine oil changes help avoid engine wear. Raise the vehicle, place a drain pan under the plug, and remove it to drain old oil. Check for metal shavings in the old oil. Clean and reinstall the plug. Move the pan under the oil filter, remove the plug and filter, and clean all parts. Install a new O-ring and filter. Lower the vehicle, add new oil, and check the level. Start the engine, check for leaks, and monitor after the oil change. Dispose of old oil properly. Reset the service reminder light.
