Q:
How do you remove the front fender of a Toyota Matrix? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the front fender, follow these steps carefully. First, raise the vehicle and securely support it on jack stands, then remove the front wheel for easier access. Next, remove the headlight housing. Proceed by detaching the inner fender well screws and clips, and then removing the inner fender well liner. To access the lower fender-to-body bolt, remove the lower rocker panel by taking out the rubber plugs covering the rocker panel bolts and removing the bolts and the rocker panel itself. Use a plastic trim tool to remove the front fender flare panel and expose the lower fender bolt. Open the front door and remove the two fender-to-body bolts and one bolt inside the fender well. Remove the front bumper cover, followed by the two fender fasteners located under the headlight housing area. Remove the cowl louver panel and the rubber hood sealing strip along the top of the fender, then remove the two upper fender-to-body mounting bolts. Finally, carefully lift off the fender, ensuring an assistant supports it to prevent damage to surrounding body panels. For installation, simply follow the reverse order of removal, taking care to check the alignment of the fender to the hood and front edge of the door before finally tightening the fender fasteners. By following these steps, you can successfully remove and reinstall the front fender, ensuring proper alignment and attachment to the vehicle's body.
