    Q:
How is the Turn Signal Flasher Addressed and What Steps are Involved in Its Troubleshooting and Replacement on 1997 through 2001 Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal and hazard flasher are housed within a compact, canister-shaped unit situated in the relay center under the dashboard near the steering column. When functioning correctly, the flasher emits an audible clicking sound during its operation. If turn signals fail on one side and the characteristic clicking is absent, a faulty turn signal bulb is likely. If both turn signals do not blink, potential causes include a blown fuse, a malfunctioning flasher unit, a broken switch, or a loose/open connection. If a visual inspection of the fuse box reveals a blown turn signal fuse, check for wiring shorts before replacing the fuse. To replace the flasher, pull it out of its holder and unplug it, ensuring the replacement unit matches the original. Installation involves reversing the removal process.

    Q:
How to Troubleshoot the Turn Signal Flasher on a Toyota Celica? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal/hazard is a small canister shape unit situated in a position, behind the left kick panel, that flashes the turn signals. Normally it emits a clicking sound when it is in operation as it is designed to do. If the turn signals only go off on one side, and the flasher does not click, it means that the bulb for turn signals is bad. If the both turn signals do not blink there may be a problem with the turn signal fuse, the flasher unit, the switch, or a poor connection. A simple look into the fuse box will either show one that turn signal has been fused out, and it is better to look into the wiring and check for a short before replacing the fuse. To remove the flasher, the unit usually has to be pulled out of the fuse block or wiring harness and then the new flasher has to be inserted in the same manner, being sure to use a flasher that is the same as the old one by comparing them before installation .

    Q:
How to check the Turn Signal Flasher and Turn Signal Switch on a Toyota Supra? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal/hazard flasher relay, found beneath the left lower dash panel in models from 1982 to 1986, can be checked by removing it and connecting the positive lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative lead to terminal 2, while a 55W bulb is connected between terminals 1 and 2 to verify flashing. If it fails to operate, replacement is necessary. The turn signal/hazard flasher switch is located in the steering column assembly and can be checked for continuity using an ohmmeter after unscrewing and unplugging the electrical connector at the base of the steering column. The light control and headlight dimmer switches are also in the steering column and should be checked similarly for continuity. The windshield wiper and washer switch, located on the right side of the steering column, requires the steering wheel and column cover to be removed for access; continuity can be checked after unplugging the electrical connector. For replacement of the turn signal/hazard flasher, light control switch, or headlight dimmer switch, the steering wheel and column cover must be removed, followed by disconnecting the wire harness electrical connector and removing the mounting screws for the switch assembly. The problematic switch can then be detached and replaced, with installation being the reverse of removal, ensuring that all terminals are securely locked in place. To replace the wiper switch, the combination switch assembly must first be removed, followed by detaching the wiper and washer switch from the back of the assembly, with installation again being the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to replace the Hazard Warning Switch and Turn Signal Flasher on Toyota T100? Posted by Customer
    A:
T100 drivers should look behind the bottom left part of their instrument panel to find the flasher unit. Working correctly, you'll hear a clicking sound from the flasher unit, but when only one side of the turn signal stops working and the flasher does not make its normal click, a bad turn signal bulb is most likely the problem. If both turn signals don't blink, it could be either of three things: a faulty turn-signal fuse that needs replacing, a defective flasher unit, cracked switch mechanism, or a loose wire connection. Examine the fuse box and replace the turn-signal fuse if it's blown. Also, examine the wire connections for shorts before installing a new fuse. Detach the left panel and disconnect the old flasher, then plug in a new one as a direct match for the original model before reversing the removal process. To see if the hazard warning works as it should, first remove the switch from the dash and unplug it. Then use an ohmmeter to make sure there's a connection (continuity) between the following circuit terminals: between terminals 2 and 3 to check the illumination circuit, and between terminals 7 and 10 when the switch is off, and between terminals 5, 6, and 9, as well as between If the hazard warning switch stops working, you need to replace it.

    Q:
Where is the Turn Signal Flasher Located and How to Replace it on a Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
    A:
The turn signal/hazard flasher is in a brown canister-shaped unit inside the relay center beneath the dashboard just in front of the steering column; the knee bolster has to be pulled out to get it. As is evident when the flasher is functional, it will make a clicking noise during operation. Tens of thousands of dollars A quick flash of the turn signal lamp on the left or the right suggests that there is a burnt turn signal bulb on the left or the right side. If both turn signals fail to blink, there could be; a bad flasher, a bad switch, a loose connection, or a blown fuse. A simple look at the fuse board may show that the turn signal fuse has blown; before replacing the fuse, the wiring should be checked for a fault. In order to remove the flasher to replace it with a new one, the following procedures are followed Pull the flasher out of its holder and remove the connector from it it is important to ensure that the new flasher that is being installed is of the same type as the old one Installation process is done in the reverse order of the removal process.

    Q:
How to diagnose and replace a faulty turn signal flasher unit on Toyota Supra? Posted by Customer
    A:
This component is known as the turn signal/hazard flasher and comes usually in the form of a small cylindrical container which can be fixed either under the dashboard or in Relay Block No.5 and serves to flash the turn signals. It is normally designed to make a clicking sound when it is working as it should during use. If the turn signals fail on one side though the flasher unit does not make the characteristic clicking sound, a faulty turn signal bulb could be the problem. If both turn signals do not blink, the potential cause may be a blower fuse, flasher, switch, and or a disconnected/ loose connection. One simple inspection that can be made is the inspection of the fuse box where a blown fuse for the turn signal can be observed; it is recommended that an inspection is made on the wiring for short circuit before replacing the fuse. To replace the flasher, it is a matter of removing it from the fuse block or electrical wiring harness; the replacement component should be similar to the defected unit hence it can be replaced by comparing the new and the old flasher before use. Cleaning too is done systematically and installation is done the reverse manner to that of removals.

    Q:
The part number shown is a flasher assembly for a 1989 pickup. It has a small metal plate in the center of the three prongs. My understanding is that part has been discontinued and replaced by 81980-03010. When I pick that second part up at the parts store, though, that small metal plate is not there - it's just a smooth plastic surface. And that second part does not work. I would like to know for certain that the small metal plate is on 81980-03010 before I order it. Posted by Customer
