- A:To remove the rear hub/bearing assembly, start by loosening the wheel bolts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and block the front wheels. Then, remove the rear coil spring and suspension air bags. Next, remove the brake caliper, caliper mounting bracket, and brake disc. Support the brake caliper with wire or rope. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor and harness. Use a screwdriver and hammer to remove the grease cap. Remove the cotter pin and adjusting lock cap, and then remove the driveaxle/hub nut. Remove the No.2 lower control arm and disconnect the upper control arm from the knuckle. Slide the knuckle off of the driveaxle. Remove the hub/bearing assembly mounting bolts from the back of the knuckle. Finally, remove the hub/bearing assembly from the steering knuckle and replace the O-ring on the hub. To install the hub/bearing assembly, ensure that the mounting surfaces inside the steering knuckle and on the driveaxle splines are smooth. Lubricate the driveaxle splines with multipurpose grease and place the hub/bearing assembly onto the knuckle. Tighten the bolts and install the knuckle, making sure the driveaxle slides through the bearing. Install a new driveaxle/hub nut. The remaining steps involve tightening all suspension fasteners, installing the wheels, removing the jackstands, lowering the vehicle, and finally tightening the driveaxle/hub bolt and lug nuts.Posted by ToyotaPartsDeal Specialist
