    Q:
How to Remove and Install the A/C Switch Control Panel in a Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. On 2006 and earlier models, remove the kick panels, lower dash sound insulators, glove compartment, instrument cluster bezel, and center instrument trim panel. Pull off the control knobs (if equipped). On 2007 and later models, remove the center instrument cluster finish panels. Remove the shift knob. Remove the radio. Remove the A/C switch. Remove the A/C switch mounting screws. On 2006 and earlier models, pull the unit out a little, then push the temperature control shaft through and leave it in position as the control panel is pulled forward. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the A/C switch assembly. Disconnect the one cable at the top of the A/C switch assembly. Disconnect the three cables from the bottom of the A/C switch assembly. Detach the connectors and remove the unit. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Run the engine and check for proper functioning of the heater (and air conditioning if equipped). Cable adjustment (except Automatic Air Conditioning) (2006 and earlier models): To adjust the air inlet control cable, set the control lever to RECIRC, install the cable, and clamp it in place. To adjust the air mix control cable, set the air mix to COOL, install the cable, and lock the clamp while applying slight pressure on the outer cable. To adjust the mode control cable, set the mode to DEF, install the cable, and lock the clamp while applying slight pressure on the outer cable. To adjust the water control cable, set the water valve lever to COOL, install the cable, and lock the clamp while applying slight pressure on the outer cable. Electrical checks (except Automatic Air Conditioning) (2006 and earlier models): Check the A/C switch operation by applying power and ground to the terminals. When the switch is pushed in (ON), the AC indicator light should come on. If it doesn't, replace the switch. Using a self-powered continuity tester, test the terminals on the back of the control unit, starting with the mode control switch. Test the blower speed control switch for continuity. Any tests that do not meet specifications indicate the control unit should be replaced. To replace any control panel components, remove the control knobs, then the screws on the back.

    Q:
How to remove the A/C Switch control panel on a 1997 through 2001 Toyota Solara? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the A/C switch, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Then, remove the center instrument trim panel and the radio. If equipped, pull off the control knobs. Next, locate and remove the mounting screws on the front of the A/C switch assembly. Pull the switch out slightly and push the temperature control shaft (for Camry models) through, leaving it in position as the switch panel is pulled forward. For installation, simply reverse the removal procedure. Run the engine and check for the proper functioning of the A/C. For cable adjustment (except automatic AC), set the control lever to FRESH to adjust the air inlet damper control cable. Install the cable and clamp it in place. To adjust the air mix control cable, set the air mix to COOL, install the cable, and lock the clamp while applying slight pressure away from the firewall on the outer cable. For electrical checks (except automatic AC), check the continuity of the A/C switch between terminals 2 andThere should be continuity when the switch is pushed in (ON). Use a self-powered continuity tester to test the terminals on the back of the control unit, starting with the mode control switch. Test the blower speed control switch for continuity. Any tests that do not meet specifications indicate that the control unit should be replaced. To replace any control panel components, remove the control knobs first, and then the four screws on the faceplate.
