Q:
How to remove and install a steering knuckle? Posted by Customer
A:
Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Apply the parking brake. Remove the wheel. Detach all brake hose brackets from the steering knuckle. On vehicles with ABS, detach the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle. Remove the brake caliper and brake disc. Hang the caliper with a length of wire - don't let it hang by the brake hose. Disconnect the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. On 4WD models, remove the driveaxle/ hub nut. Disconnect the upper and lower control arms from the steering knuckle, then remove the steering knuckle. On 4WD models, guide the driveaxle out of the hub, being careful to not overextend the inner CV joint. Support the driveaxle with a length of wire - don't let it hang by the inner CV joint. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten all suspension fasteners. Tighten the lug nuts.
