Because of a Federally mandated extended warranty that covers emissions related components such as the catalytic converter, check with a dealer service department before replacing the converter at your own expense. The catalytic converter(s) are incorporated into the exhaust manifold(s). Exhaust manifold replacement procedure. Remove the upstream oxygen sensor(s). Remove the exhaust manifold(s). The catalytic converter(s) is an integral part of the exhaust manifold and cannot be replaced separately. If the catalytic converter(s) is bad, the exhaust manifold must be replaced. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Check with a dealer service department.

In the final reassembly:Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order of removal.Run the engine and check for exhaust leaks.

Disconnect any interfering wire clamps.
